That is to say, Camidoh’s Sugarcane is the most streamed Ghanaian song on YouTube.
Exactly two years 16 days today from the day of the release of Camidoh’s Sugarcane remix featuring Mayorkun, King Promise, and Darkoo, it has become the first single by a Ghana-based artist to cross 100 million streams on YouTube.
The song has surpassed one of Ghana’s most streamed on the platform, Adonai by Sarkodie and the late Castro, which currently has 98 million streams after 10 years of release.
Being the main breakthrough song for the artist, Sugarcane has won several awards and accolades in Ghana and abroad since its release in 2021.
It is the first Ghanaian song to top highly dominated Nigerian Apple Music Hot 100 for a longer period: 9 weeks.
The song has earned him a BET nomination, Telecel [ formerly Vodafone ] Music Award for Best Afrobeat and Best Collaboration, 3Music Awards Breakthrough Act, Ghana Music Awards UK’s Best New Artist, and Afrobeats Artist of The Year.
