MTN ICT lab turns forest at Adidome after 9 years of commissioning

An ICT lab project put up by MTN 9years ago has been left without operation and maintenance since its commissioning.

The lab was commissioned in the year 2012 by MTN officials, schools around the locality including Adidome Senior High School, and a representative from almost all the Primary and Junior High Schools at that time. With the unavailability of a General library, the ICT lab was used by both students and non-students for research works across all levels.

After just 2-3 years of operating, the lab was abandoned. No computers, no caretaker which led to no access. The state of the facility is heartbreaking considering the impact of ICT in our modern world and how the schools in the constituency lack ICT lab. Even the senior high school (ADISEC), cannot boast of a complete ICT lab for students. Just a small room with about 7-11 computers for over 800 students.

Speaking on Citi TV, the DCE, Hon. Thomas Moore made some revelations that the chief was the hindrance to the renovating of the facility. He further detailed that they tried to get in touch with the chief to get the place renovated but he insisted it was his personal property given to him by MTN therefore will not welcome any idea to renovate it for the community.

Interestingly, the said chief died a few months ago with a new chief taking over affairs in the town. But there is no development on the issue as the facility is still lying there for mice and lizards to use as their home.

Watch below a video report I made on citi tv for the DCE to be questioned;
