AC Milan sign Giroud for only €2m from Chelsea despite signing new deal

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is close to completing his transfer to Milan, despite penning a new deal with the Blues earlier this year.

The Blues triggered an option to extend the Frenchman’s deal at the club through to next year and avoid losing him as a free agent.

And the Milanese giants are now set to pay an initial £2.5m fee for the 34-year-old, plus add-ons, according to TalkSport, who claim Giroud has agreed to the switch.

Having made just eight starts in the Premier League last season, Giroud has fallen from favour at Stamford Bridge and is seeking regular first-team football.
