Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome has expressed disappointment in the Government for spending $15 million to feed the athletes that participated in the 13th All African Games that took place in Accra in March.
Speaking to JoyNews, the MP for South Tongu and ranking member for sports committee made it clear that an investigation must be done to find out how the money was spent.
“You are spending close to $245 million dollars right, and out of this we got to know among them for instance a whooping amount of $15 million dollars which is worth or close to a bit over Ghs226 million being how much was used to feed athletes for 18 days for the event. You realize that some of these things needed to be investigated cos we wanted to know how many athletes actually made it and how many athletes got registered. In fact we need to get a report generated by the game management system”, he stated.
The Minsitry of Sports has come under serious scrutiny after the Sports minister made it clear that they paid GBC $3.6 million dollars to cover the entire event. The back and forth has also seen GBC stating they only received $105,000 from the amount the minster put out.
