COVID-19: NO TRADITIONAL BURIAL FOR CORONAVIRUS RELATED DEATH -GHS

 

The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate, Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang has reiterated that, the government is to supervise the burial of any coronavirus victim without the family taking part or the usual traditional burial, Peace News Sampson K. Nyamekye has reported.

This according to him is to contain the case and avoid it from spreading from one person to the other adding that it is not the intentions of the Government to infringe on the culture or tradition.

Ghana has recorded 27 confirmed cases with two deaths reported death.

Speaking to Sampson K. Nyamekye at a Press Conference to update the media on the coronavirus case in the region, which the Directorate has been having on every Monday, Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang said that so far no vaccine has been made for the virus but currently what they are administering is clinical trials and their focus is preventive measures to avoid the spread of the virus.

Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang revealed that The Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) has been received and they would be distributed to the various hospitals in the region.
Commenting on the referral of suspected cases to KATH and the Kumasi Hospital, he admonished that hospitals to do it right by isolating suspects at “Golden Area” and later call for the Regional Response Team rather than sending them to the designated centres.

The Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr. Oheneba Danso said the vulnerable prone to the virus are Diabetic patients, the aged and people with respiratory diseases and has therefore implored all to comply with the preventive measures.
