The Ghana COVID-19 Relief Support Project (www.ghanacovid19.org) of the Africa Centre for Peace Building (www.afcopb.org) has on Saturday, April the 11th, 2020 donated some food items to over One Hundred (100) residents at Kasoa in the Central Regional of Ghana.
The relief items donated included, oil, rice, bread, spaghetti, tin tomatoes which were put in small packages.
According to the Project Coordinator, Mr. Korsi Senyo, since the project was launched about 13 days ago, they have received over 600 calls from families placing distress calls to be supported with food.
The Ghana COVID-19 Relief Support (GCRS) is a private sector-led initiative to complement efforts of government and other institutions in Ghana in combating the novel Corona Virus (nCOVID-19).
Mr. Senyo noted that the partial lockdown in the four cities, Accra, Tema, Kumasi, and Kasoa in a bid of curbing the spread of the deadly virus is having a devastating effect on lower-income earners hence the bases for the project, to help mobilize food items to support the needy whose livelihoods depend largely on their daily movements.
“The Ghana COVID-19 Relief Support team is appealing to all NGOs, CSOs, Businesses, Traders, Churches, Mosques and private individuals for support. We need you to support us with foodstuffs such as Rice, Maize, Bread, Oil, Yam, Beans, Gari, etc for onward distribution to the needy.” – Mr. Senyo said
“We also wish to thank all our donors and volunteers as well as all those who supported us to make the Saturday donation a success”
