Cardi B has filed for divorce from her husband,
Offset, marking another turn in their tumultuous relationship. Sources close to the couple have confirmed that the decision has been a long time in the making, with the pair reportedly growing apart over an extended period.
Despite persistent rumours of infidelity surrounding Offset, insiders insist that cheating is not the cause of the split. “They’ve grown apart. That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else,” said one source.
“This is something she wants to do.”
Cardi B, 31, and Offset, 32, who were married in September 2017, share two children: daughter Kulture, 5, and son Wave, 2. Cardi is seeking primary custody of their children and is reportedly determined not to reconcile this time. “She’s not folding,” a representative for Cardi confirmed to Page Six.
Recent rumours about Offset’s fidelity surfaced again this week when he was seen with a woman he had dated in the past. However, both he and Cardi have denied these rumours played a role in their separation.
“This is not something that happened overnight,” another source noted. “They’ve both been trying to figure out what their future looks like for a while now. They’ve grown apart, and that feeling has gotten stronger over time.
It’s become unavoidable.”
Cardi B has previously shared the ups and downs of their marriage on social media. In 2023, she posted a cryptic message on Instagram about outgrowing relationships, followed by a declaration of putting herself first. Shortly after, she confirmed she had been
“single for a minute.”
Offset has yet to comment publicly on the divorce. However, sources say that he and Cardi are on the same page about the separation and are committed to making the transition as peaceful as possible.
“She has no ill-will towards him. She’s wishing him the best,” a source added. “She’s focused on moving on and wants everything to be very peaceful.”
