The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has joined the Pro-democracy group, Respect My Vote Movement’s social media campaign #RespectMyVote in their quest to get the people’s vote heretofore in the just-ended 2020 polls.
The presidential candidate took to his Facebook page and stated emphatically that the “National Democratic Congress has decided to proceed to the Supreme Court to contest the results of the rigged elections of December 7.”
According to him, the decision follows a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party on Tuesday in Accra.
The Leadership of the NDC rejected the results of the election following the declaration of Akufo-Addo as president-elect of the fourth republic by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa on December 9, 2020.
However, Mahama revealed while in court that the NDC will continually use any strategy encompassing protest, pressure groups, et al to demand the enforcement of the rule of law “While in court, the NDC will continue all legitimate actions, including protests, to demand the enforcement of the rule of law and protection of life and property of the good people of Ghana”.
He, therefore, urged the EC to “Respect the Vote” of the citizenry.
