Students of the Ghana School of Law will today, March 5, 2019, storm Parliament to present a petition to the Speaker, Professor Mike Oquaye over the continual mass failure of students.
They are by the petition, requesting the Speaker of Parliament to initiate an investigation into the mass failure in the 2018 professional law examination.
The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Ghana School of Law said they are boycotting lectures to protest against the current Legal Profession Regulations 2018 (LI 2355) which covers professional and post-call law courses.
Results released by the Independent Examination Committee of the General Legal Council reveals that only 64 students passed in all papers with a total of 284 students failing in all 10 programmes they have registered.
Some 177 students who were referred in various papers will also have to rewrite those papers.
President of the SRC, Emmanuel Kobby Amoah at a forum, described the failings as unfair as students invest a lot of time into learning.
He said the mass failure of students is becoming a big issue, hence the need to resolve this.
Mr. Amoah wants the LI 2355 which states that students who fail in three out of 10 papers are required to repeat the course must be revised.
