In light of the ongoing controversy surrounding Michael Blackson’s criticism of the Ghanaian government over his locked-up investments, netizens have resurfaced old tweets of him campaigning against the opposition NDC.
Following the solidarity he has received after his recent social media rants, some users, particularly members of the NDC are using these tweets to argue that he doesn’t deserve public sympathy.
They have that it serves Blackson right to be let down by the very party he once championed while many were condemning it online.
In the tweet, dated April 23, 2024, the Ghanaian American actor advised citizens to think twice about voting for the NDC, stating that the NDC flagbearer, Mr.
John Dramani Mahama, seemingly has nothing better to offer the country
.
The tweet read, “Ghana, now you might think about going back to the NDC but think about this. That guy was once your president, and why didn’t he win a second term?
What did he not do to win again?”
Recently, Michael Blackson took to X to reveal his frustrations regarding his investment in Eurobonds intended to fund his school in Ghana.
He explained that he had invested with the belief that these bonds would sustain the free school he built.
However, he expressed disappointment that the Ghanaian government used these funds to settle its debts, putting investors like him in a precarious position.
“Who’s the minister of finance in Ghana? I have beef with this guy. People from the diaspora chose to invest in our continent, and now our money is being used to pay off debts, with two disappointing options: a 37% cut for 5% interest over 11 years, or no cut with just 1.9% interest over 15 years. I’m very disappointed in my people for this,” parts of his post read.
