A group of adolescents from Nkwanta South Municipality in the Oti Region of Ghana came first in this year’s pitching challenge organised by the Adolescent Health and Development Program (ADHD) under the auspices of Ghana Health Service and Ghana Education Service.
The challenge was part of a one-week Adolescent Health Ambassadors Camping (AHAC19) which was held at PRESEC-Legon from 5th to the 9th of this month. Their project title is ‘’Fighting Teenage Pregnancy in Nkwanta South and Ghana as a whole. For their prize, they are walking away with GHC10,000.00 to fight teenage pregnancy.
They competed with giant schools including OLA SHS-Volta Region, Mfantsiman SHS-Central Region, Commonwealth College-Greater Accra, Archbishop Potter Girls School-Western Region, Afua Kobi SHS-Ashanti Region, Hwidiem SHS-Brong Ahafo Region, Kwegyir Aggrey SHTS-Central Region, Bawku Sec. Tech. – Upper East Region, WBM Zion SHS-Old Tafo in the Eastern Region and many other schools.
‘’Movement for Change’’ group is made up of 6 students from each of four senior high schools within the Nkwanta Municipality namely Nkwanta SHS, Nkwanta Community Senior High Technical School, Kyabobo Girls School and the Ntruboman SHS.
They were accompanied by their patron Mr. Bernard Joachim Potakey.
The theme for the week celebration was ‘’Equipping young People as Health Ambassadors for sustainable Development.”
