MP bans Funerals, Camp meeting and Church activities in Classrooms
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) Constituency, Mr. Elvis Morris Donkor has directed School authorities not to rent out classroom blocks for funerals, Camp meetings, Church Services and other related events but strictly teaching and learning purposes.
Mr. Morris Donkor gave the directive when he and his delegation stormed Moree fishing community to inspect a well furnished ultra-modern 6-unit classroom block with water closet toilet and an air condition facility for both teachers and pupils of
“The problem we have in this country is maintenance culture and we are going to do everything possible to make sure that the structure is maintained to standout as a unique facility for the Moree fishing community and the Constituency in general” he lamented.
Mr. Morris Donkor said “the pupils of D/A basic Moree were running Morning and Afternoon shift due to the bad nature of the classroom block’ hence, the construction of the unique classroom block for them”, the MP stated.
Mr. Morris Donkor who stormed his Alma Mater, Aggrey Memorial Zion School within his Constituency to acquaint himself with projects that have been going on as well as to find out some of the challenges facing the school.
He again inspected well furnished 12-Unit Classroom block which was built by his boss, President Nana Addo to ease congestion in Senior High Schools (SHS) as part of the government free SHS policy.
Mr. Morris Donkor also inspected ongoing boys dormitory and completion of adminstration block within the school where he promised his Alma Mater to use his position as MP to help the school with more infrastructure projects as well as to lobby for furnitures for the school.
The Headmistress of Aggrey Memorial Zion School, Madam Kate Annan Wilberforce applauded President Nana Addo and MP, Morris Donkor for their support to the school and appealed to them to build more classroom blocks for the school to end the double truck system in the school.
She appealed to the government through the MP to provide teachers flat for the school to help the school to contain the boys, since most of the boys need parenting.
He also inspected Moree landing site which the people of Moree especially fishermen were yearning for, citing that, every government promised the people of Moree landing site but no government in the fourth republic had been able to achieve the promise “but with Nana Addo’s campaign promise he has surely delivered”.
On his part, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman for the AAK, Kwaku Baah Ewudzie said Mr. Morris Donkor’s massive development initated in AAK would help the party to break the 8 as well as make the AAK stronghold for NPP because over the years it has been very tough for AAK in terms of development agenda but President Nana Addo and the MP have transformed the area with massive developmental projects.
