NPP Primaries: It Ended In Tears For Mike Oquaye Jnr; Adwoa Safo Won By 8 Votes

You can call it “do or die” but Sarah Adwoa Safo, who is the incumbent Member of Parliament has won a keenly contested NPP Primaries at Dome-Kwabenya in the Greater Accra region.

Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo is also the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament and also the Minister in charge of Procurement at the Presidency.

At the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held their primary elections to elect qualified persons to contest the various parliamentary seats in the upcoming elections.

Sarah Adwoa Safo had won the Saturday elections with eight votes ahead of her competitor, Mike Oquaye Jnr. whose father is Speaker of the House to hold the Dome-Kwabenya constituency primaries.

One can say it was a nearly contested election but it ended in tears for Mike Oquaye Jnr. Yes, Eight votes made the difference and the young man will not be able to forget this event.

After counting of ballots, Adwoa Safo got 496 votes while Oquaye Jnr, who is Ghana’s Commissioner to India, garnered 488 votes.

Mike Oquaye Jnr would have to wait another four years to get a chance. Adwoa Safo on the other hand is likely to win the Dome-Kwabenya seat.
