Tell Akufo- Addo to pay attention to government school- Teacher Kwadwo to Rebecca Akufo-Addo
Former teacher and social activist Teacher Kwadwo has pleaded with the first lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo to intervene on behalf of the government basic schools.
Being an eye witness and sharing lots of experience on the neglect of government basic school, teacher Kwadwo has been a blessing to a lot of these needy students during his time as a teacher.
Teacher Kwadwo made this plea after seeing the First Lady share a post of meeting the winners of the Spelling Bee contest who were all private school students. In post cited on social media, she wrote:
I received the winners of this year’s Spelling Bee competition, at my office yesterday.
I am still fascinated by the sheer brilliance of these young ones and it is clear from my interactions with them that the Spelling Bee competition has had a positive impact on them in terms of confidence and articulation.
I reaffirmed my commitment to improving literacy in our children and discussed ways in which Spelling Bee Ghana can collaborate with the Rebecca Foundation’s Learning to Read Reading to Learn Initiative to extend the principles of Spelling Bee to more Ghanaian children. I commend the organizers Young Educators Foundation for such an excellent programme. I took the opportunity to honour my pledge to support the winners.
Teacher Kwadwo replied her post saying ;
“Obaatanpa,isn’t it beautiful how these kids look? kindly talk to Daddy for the innocent kids in the Government Basic Schools. They are suffering. No text books and other TLRs for 3yrs and counting.
It’s sad oo.. 😞”
