Dr. Anthony Sorkpah, the Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) known as “NDC Insight,” has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of engaging in corruption and poor management.
During his appearance on Ahotor FM’s program Gbloe na ku, Dr. Sorkpah claimed that the NPP has leased more than 320 mining sites, which has greatly contributed to environmental problems and resource depletion in Ghana.
He criticized the government for allegedly placing personal interests ahead of the country’s well-being.
Dr. Sorkpah pointed out that sending those involved in corruption to tackle illegal mining, or galamsey, is not effective. He contended that the NPP is more concerned with “finding ways to steal” from public assets than on resolving the urgent challenges faced by Ghanaians.
Dr. Sorkpah highlighted the concerns expressed by the United Nations regarding Ghana’s water scarcity forecasts for 2030, warning that the ongoing galamsey activities and increasing costs associated with water purification may exacerbate the nation’s water crisis.
He called on Ghanaians to remove the current government from power, asserting that Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia have neglected the protection of Ghana’s resources and misappropriated public funds, resulting in suffering for the country.
