According to Counterpoint Research, two phone brands dominate the list of the top 10 best-selling phones in Q1 2024.
The market research firm’s Global Monthly Handset Model Sales Tracker reveals that Apple and Samsung each captured five positions on the list. It is also the first quarter in which the top 10 phones are 5G-capable.
Not surprisingly, Apple leads the first four positions with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14, respectively. However, Apple hit a milestone this time as the Pro Max variant secured the top spot for the first time in a non-seasonal quarter.
Counterpoint Research attributed this feat to the increasing trend of consumers opting for higher-end phone models. The market research firm also noted that the Pro lineup is growing in popularity among consumers, contributing half of Apple’s total sales.
Samsung managed to round off the top five with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The next five spots are taken by the Galaxy A15 5G, Galaxy A54, iPhone 15 Plus, Galaxy S24 and Galaxy A34.
The South Korean company did well last quarter due to the early launch of the Galaxy S24 series and its push into generative AI.
Looking ahead, Counterpoint Research believes the top 10 best-selling phones will garner a bigger share of global sales as phone brands race to streamline their lineups with premium features such as generative AI.
