The residents of Abutia Avetakpo, located in the Ho West district of the Volta region, convened a town hall meeting to highlight the challenges they are facing.
According to Mr. Jonas Tornye, the youth leader, the Ho West district assembly has neglected them in terms of development efforts. He mentioned that seven other communities in the district are experiencing similar difficulties.
Despite efforts by chiefs and community members to inform the District Chief Executive, Honorable Ernest Apao, about their challenges, no action has been taken. Additionally, the Member of Parliament for Ho West, Honorable Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzra, has allocated a site for a health facility, referred to as a chip compound, for 16 years, yet it remains unused.
The community’s issues include concerns about roads, healthcare facilities, water, and electricity. The residents of Abutia Avetakpo expressed their determination not to remain under the jurisdiction of Ho West unless their issues are addressed by the government.
Furthermore, they declared their intention to abstain from participating in the upcoming election until their grievances are resolved.
