AFTER a six-year break, Mentor, the popular music reality show which aired on TV3 and discovered stars such as Kesse, eShun, Becca among others, has been relaunched.
Dubbed: “Mentor Reloaded,” it was relaunched at TV3’s Adesa We compound on Friday, September 13 and brought together some of the contestants and winners including, Nii Soul, Kesse and Yaw Stone.
This year’s show, which is the eighth edition will start in October with auditions and we can expect all the excitement that came with Mentor in past years to be reignited as talented young people fight for a chance to show the world what they can do.
Speaking at the launch, GM, Shared Services and Operations at Media General, Winfred Kingsley Afful encouraged everyone to join the Mentor train.
“There is a lot of unemployment; people have good voices but they don’t even have hope, some of them are in typical villages, some sing in front of their mirrors, some sing at church and at least Mentor is going to give them an opportunity,” he stated.
Mr Afful explained how viewers played a role in Mentor returning to the screens.
“A lot of people kept asking when it was going to come back, people loved it and as a firm that loves to put smiles on the faces of the people we serve, we listened.
“We sat down as a team and agreed that indeed these concerns were valid and brought it back,” he said.
In a bid to prove how prepared they are, they have already set audition dates and venues while judges are also ready to take up their roles.
Auditions will begin from October 9, 2019 at the Radach Hotel in Tamale; then on October 11 at TV3’s office in Kumasi. It will move to Takoradi on October 16 at Connect FM premises, and end in Accra at Adesa We on October 18 and 19. Interested participants must download forms from www.3news.com.
At the end of the auditions, 12 contestants will be housed and mentored for weeks and will battle it for honours at weekly shows.
The winner will go home with a two-bedroom house at a prime location in Accra.
Judges for Mentor Reloaded are musicians, Bessa Simons, Trigmatic and Adina.
