Kedibom Festival is celebrated annually in the month of November by the people of Ntrubo Delo people at Brewaniase in the Oti Region.

The Kedibom festival depicts the Ntrubos migration process whereas a small group usually eats together in a big local dish (Nyifale Dina) this always unites them and brings mutual love. Base on this, they never separated any stranger who paid a visit to them.

From dining thus, the same as they started living in the families and clans as a result. They continued when they started living in their communities.

The Ntrubo communities include PUSUPU, BONTIBOR, AKYEM-NTRUBO, SALIFUKROM, OBANDA, ABRUBRUWA, AHONDWO, ASUKOORKOR. DORMABIN, FANKYENKOR, AND MORE 50 OTHER SMAllER COMMUNITIES – DIGUENGUE(TOGO) AMEDZRO (TOGO), ECT…..

Ntrubo – Delo-speaking people also come together when there are crisis/ bad omens like drought and famine, pandemic and epidemic ect…..to find solutions to the tribal wars that were not left out.

The end of the problem indicates victory and the need to celebrate gloriously.

The last and recent one celebrated was in 1986 when there was a drought which affected early cultivation of crops the rites performed during the celebration saw a heavy downpour night from Damanko to Hohoe on that day it was so historic and memorable one.

Before then, the Ntrubo Delo speaking people agreed to have the kpebu shrine as the head of all the fetish shrines. the highest priest was stationed at Bontibor.

Every year the clan head and priests of the various communities get a day to perform rites before new yams were eaten. It is also another day of togetherness.

THE NEED FOR KIDIBOM

Nana Tidibo Kowura Odamba Initiated the Kedibom festival on the celebration with prominent educationist, religious leaders, traditionalist, politicians, lawyers, youth groups etc.this is as a result of the massive crowd that attended and graced his 1st-anniversary celebration of kingship July 2004. promises made by dignitaries including politicians on that day (in the era of NPP Government) call for an annual celebration of a kind. Hence the thought and implementation of Kedibom celebration to get support for the developmental projects.

This not withstanding, started bringing Ntrubo in diaspora together to raised issues of concern in the area.

THE IMPACT OF KEDIBOM ON THE PEOPLE

The Kedibom festival has therefore influenced the Ntrubo community to have corrected their slaves because of chieftaincy disputes land litigation squabbles that have marred our famous unity to come out of their shelves and back on track.

The week-long Kedibom festival is seen to have a series of meetings (not only the natives but also the settler communities) to deliberate over social, moral, traditional, political, etc.. issues.

Hence the need to invite any political leader (especially the government of the day) on the durbar day to be the guest speaker/ guest of honor. The selections of invitation are to beef up development this year’s theme; Building a Healthy And Resilient Society Through Unity” this is based on past events. It also strengthens unity as we are determined to have a district/constituency (where to direct our attention to meet this need/ demand).

This festival also gives us an opportunity to air our grievances in the form of dialogue to leaders in power and those craving for power.
