President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to meet leaders of all political parties later Friday over coronavirus outbreak that has infected 204 and killed five.

The politicians are to deliberate on the best measures to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Ghana.

Already, the President has met with market women, members of the business community and transport operators.

Friday’s meeting will afford the President the opportunity to explain to the political parties some key government decisions already taken after Ghana recorded its first case on March 12.

During the President’s last address on March 27, 2020, when he announced a partial lockdown of Accra and Kumasi, he appealed to Ghanaians to avoid “politicking and display of partisanship’ in the country’s COVID-19 fight.

“We must be united in our determination and efforts to overcome this challenge. This, certainly, is not the time for politicking or the display of partisanship. The virus does not care which party you belong to, neither is it, as we have seen, a respecter of persons. The enemy is the virus and not each other,” he said.

Global coronavirus infections hit over 1 million with over 52, 000 deaths recorded.

The US, so far, has the highest number of infections – 245, 442, whiles Italy has the highest number of COVID-19 deaths – 13,915.
